Designing Your Website To Be User Friendly
August 31st, 2011As you design your website, you will need to consider the different people that will visit your website. For some visitors, it may be difficult for them to maneuver around the website. For instance, people with visual disabilities may not be able to see certain fonts at certain font sizes. There are things that you can do so many people will be able to easily explore your website. For users with visual difficulties, you may want to increase the font size. Larger font is easier to read. Font styles like arial and times new roman are appropriate because of how clear the letters appear on the screen. Larger icons can help users with visual difficulties as well. For users with auditory difficulties, you will need to provide more visuals. For example, if you have a video on your website, then you should include an option where people can add captions so they can easily view and understand the contents of the video. Besides people with disabilities, there will be new users who are inexperienced with computers. Include a guide or a frequently asked questions page to help these new users. You will also need to make hyperlinks easier to locate.
